Palliative care and hospice

Cancer treatment at home is noble yet difficult. Getting rid of the symptoms of cancer is difficult when the doctors don’t tell you in advance what really is going to happen when you do your palliative cancer treatment at home.

No cancer cure : give pain medication

So we were told: the cancer treatment will try to make the symptoms of the cancer as small as possible. Yet the only symptoms we were told about was: no cancer cure gives pain, so pain medication will solve that. There will be a problem with going to the toilet, but we were never told that this included the patient not knowing where the toilet would be.

Professional cancer treatment

Father went back to hospital yesterday. We pray he can come home again, but we now know that even with the best intentions: if there is not enough palliative care available, it is quite difficult to do the cancer treatment at home.
