Palliative metastatic liver cancer treatment
We were told it would be easy in the sense that father would feel more pain gradually and that we had to administer him more painkillers gradually. Add to that the problem that painkillers cause constipation, which is not too difficult to monitor. However, there is more: the malfunctioning liver causes the blood to reach the brain unfiltered, which causes similar symptoms suffered by people that are food and water deprived, stranded on a boat in the sea: hallucinations. Not to mention the anger and depression caused by the bad news cancer brings.
Some extra family members came over today to add a helping hand, so we will see if this wil make it possible to continue fathers’ treatment at home.
