Cancer and retirement

:-)

Being Labour-day today reminds me of father. Well, each night before I go to sleep reminds me of father, just that his birthday did even more and now labour day does. Why?

Father of course was not happy at all to say the least when he heard he had a not curable cancer. But what he repeatedly said was: here I am, retired, I have so many things to do, why am I lying here in this hospital?

Father never said: why do I have cancer? And I forgot to ask why he never said so, as I constantly ask myself: why for crying out loud does a nice person need to have cancer? If bad people get it as kind of punishment, I can agree.

But why getting cancer at the moment you get retired? Doesn’t that ring a bell that we have to reduce retirement age, when we know that our health won’t last as long as we had imagined? Seems there is a personal choice to be made here, and mine and hubbies choices are clear: retire as soon as possible. As the older we get, the more cancer can take over inside our body… :

Retire before cancer retires you!
