Upper back and shoulder pain
Since mom has pain in the shoulder and we all know that unlike cancer pain, this pain is curable, I am still puzzled where the pain comes from.
On mom’s right arm it’s obvious: a torn ligament, but mom’s left shoulder at least the ligament is completely ok. Yet according to the position mom sleeps in (back, left shoulder or right shoulder) she will feel more or less pain the next morning.
Now I have similar pains when I am in bed too long and older brother seems to have similar symptoms. So what’s happening here?
Upper back and shoulder pain
It’s not easy to simply say we are dealing with chronic pain, as it is quite bare-able compared to Colins’ blog. (see blogroll soon). But it is a persistent and quite annoying bodily pain to say the least. Just turn your head or bend your back and there is that stupid pain again.
Back pain causes
If I need to look for causes, I should highlight:
- mom is 75 and the joints are 75 as well
- older brother suffered a severe car accident with a broken arm and hip
- myself I use the computer way too much which causes me to have neck pain also
Back pain treatments
The following back pain treatments help (until you stop doing them…) Older brother just went to a chiropractic specialist to do some exercises.
Myself I always forget to do my shoulder exercises until again the neck pain re-occurs (call me a hopeless case…). Massages do help a lot though. But then I only go to a spa on holidays, and that’s exactly also a time when I don’t use a computer at all…
I used to have a very good acupuncture lady but unfortunately she married and dedicates herself now only to her kids and hubby 
When pain gets worse and I need some kind of instant relief from back pain I take Dafalgan (paracetamol) and when really bad I use Ibuprofen. My doctor also tells me to take Celebrex, but my stomach isn’t quite happy with all that
1 day to go and mom will be having her shoulder operation…
