Why do people ask the obvious questions: "how are you" or "what
is wrong" like I just read in the cancer story of "bomb in my belly"…
First time I was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma cancer and got the question "how are you", I didn’t answer. Hello, how would you be if you had cancer? If you see me in bed the whole day, they it should be obvious that something is wrong?
Yet, by saying nothing, I noticed that my silence broke the conversation. It is not all about me and my cancer, person X,Y,Z which I never see, I don’t care, but the people I love, I do want them to talk to me. There won’t be any quality of life without them, no matter how much hospices or how little palliative care you can get.
So I changed my answer to : I feel "humanly" thanks to my cancer treatments. I think that rang a bell: since the question was a bit weird, the weird answer would point that out. For those who are regular Animal Planet TV-watchers, the popular ASPCA "police squad" episodes, they can figure out which popular sentence in the series I am referring to, and it is like that how I feel about pain management and all the other cancer treatments I am getting.
If you tell me, let me know in a comment, so I can tell everybody visiting me. It is a weird situation for everybody and I accept all the help I can get!

If you are a regular reader of metastatic liver cancer, you know the cancer treatment I have is merely treating my symptoms: a bad functioning liver and pain relief.
Yet all this is easy said in theory. My main problem these days were sleeping problems, hallucinations and more trouble sleeping
Add to that the energy I lost because of my sleeping problems, and you understand why all my body suddenly shuts down.
Solution: sleeping pills. If you have sleeping problems, there are many sleeping aids to chose from. But when your energy is so low that normal thinking becomes impossible, prescription sleeping pills came God send…
God was disguised as a specialist in the hospital, yet he still seems to like to wear white. It’s kind of dark (how can white be dark?) ironic all these people dressed like a white God trying cancer treatments on people…
Now if I don’t sleep, my wife doesn’t sleep either. And how can my wife be a palliative care-taker during the day if she doesn’t sleep at night? How can she be a help in my cancer treatments?
Solution: prescription sleeping pills. Why no other sleeping aids like camomile tea or other natural sleep remedies? Because again we were not prepared. We just came to a point that all our energy was finished…
The cancer is difficult enough to handle, then the normal medical care has to be done, the normal house cores have to be done, and you don’t sleep at night? This was possible with us 2 during the days we had babies. Now we are twice as old, and in stead of 2 people to take care, one has to take care of the other, and the other keeps the first awake… a …;"what you call it"… for disaster.
