Trading a house for life-time help

This weekend was quite fruitful for mother. And that’s easy; seeing all the happy faces that don’t mind mom sulking for the first few minutes of the day: cheerfulness is addictive :-)

On the other hand there is a new idea on how to help out our aging mother. One of my nieces just married and is going to have her firstborn baby in a few months. Now she always wanted to live overseas, so we asked her: why don’t you live in mom’s house to help her out for the rest of her life.

The idea is loved both by mom as our niece, just until the most practical question popped up by mom: suppose I fall from the stairs and your baby cries for food: whom do you help first?

Seems we need to make sure we have an automatic baby feeder or get rid of the stairs… :-) Serious: the idea is there, now let’s see if it really workable. Niece has to go to a new country and gets and a baby and mom to look after for, so it’s something we need to plan bit more.

Family Reunion

Published by DaughterSK under CANCER STORIES, Health, Pain

Today is mom and dad’s 51 wedding anniversary, which will be celebrated with father only in spirits…

Nice thing is that our “scattered over the world” family has managed to get about 75% of us reunited in mom’s house today.

Finally to sit around the table together and talk about the ongoing issue about mom’s shoulder; and maybe cleaning up more of father’s stuff.

But yet again we keep in mind: first listen to what mom wants :-)

Do doctors work for patients or for the money?

Published by Liver Cancer under Pain

Gosh, already more than a month that we mentioned about mom’s torn ligament causing her pain in her shoulder. And still she didn’t go for operation.

Meanwhile she got another jab, that will be a whopping number 5… All went reasonably fine until she went working in the garden. Mom can just not sit still.

We cross fingers that she doesn’t need her operation, but the specialist said she needs it. Yet sometimes you wonder do these specialist think about their patients, or do they make another extra money?
