This is a follow up on my previous Colon Cancer Staging post. I had some more questions about it related to dad’s colon cancer, but thanks to the Dad cancer update by brother, I still have the same questions and no answers yet.
First and foremost, let me show you the list of cancer types or better said cancer stages
- Stage 0: Very early cancer on the innermost layer of the intestine (adenocarcinoma seems to be the medical term for this cancer, so matter what stage it is in)
- Stage I: Cancer is in the inner layers of the colon
- Stage II: Cancer has spread through the muscle wall of the colon
- Stage III: Cancer has spread to the lymph nodes
- Stage IV: Cancer that has spread to other organs (read my other post about Stage 4 colon cancer)
From the 9 lymph nodes tested, dad has 5 with cancer. Although this isn’t good, one of the doctors said that dad wouldn’t die of cancer. Now I also remember one of father’s doctors saying about his metastatic liver cancer: we are on the good way of recovery. We never had another consultation with that doctor afterwards, "what a coincidence"….
Anyway, people want to have a crystal ball to see what the future will bring. But the previous doctor we spoke to said: first concentrate on father getting better from this colon operation, and after 3 months of so we will speak again.
