Cancer and memory loss

I wanted to write:

I got my first hug in this blog!
(hug from Jane at: Metastatic Liver Cancer : Happy Days)

But my wife, always monitoring me if new women step into my world said:

"you already have another hug from Kim at Cancer and liver pain"

So I forgot 2 things:

  • Kim’s hug
  • Jane… I remembered visiting her site as she was talking about how health customers with cancer really are left in the cold. So I agreed to that: my health insurance came and visited me 2 weeks after I had called them under the pretext: "you are old and wise enough to get your own help organised…" šŸ™ šŸ™ šŸ™
But what strikes me is: I don’t remember that Jane’s site looked like that, nor do I find my own health cancer comment back… What is happening to me???

Cancer memory loss

I surfed the Internet and it is said that chemotherapy damages brain cells, leading to memory loss and confusion in cancer patients. Testosterone deprivation, a prostate cancer treatment for men can also be a factor in memory loss. But I have metastatic liver cancer and don’t take any chemotherapy, so what is happening to me?

Causes of short memory loss

  • painkillers can impair memory
  • old age gives you more wisdom so less memory needed…
  • just plain forgetfulness : who never lost his or her key ( if you answer yes on this question, I salute you ! )

Well, from the above causes of short memory loss, I do have a big amount of painkillers and age, so I would say for once I am not going to blame my metastatic liver cancer.

  1. Hi Jane,

Thanks for your work at your site about my site,
and thanks for the regards to my “the Mrs”…

people are always so focussed on “cancer”
    then sometime on me
and I must say you are the first one that addresses my wife.

And indeed, nobody ever asks how she is, that’s even a more sad story than mine …

All the best to you and the donation… well, your 50 dollar wont make a big difference in the western world of cancer, BUT, I am sure it will make a difference in Asia (like the was it 250 dollar houses for the tsunami victems in Sri Lanka…) I mean: a little pocket money for us is a complete house for them! So that kind of charity where little money can make a big impact is my kind of good spending of charity money.

Having said this, I probably have the most “confused sounding’ entries day today, yet that’s how it goes sometimes.

Best wishes and next time you update, euhm, put a sign or so for people like me to know šŸ™‚

  2. Hi Josef (and the Mrs.)

Sorry about the confusion with my site. You may not remember what it looks like because I had recently redesigned the site. Your memory was working fine where my website was concerned!

    Best wishes,
    jane
