Read how Andrea’s father outlives his stage 4 liver cancer prognosis for 2 years already!
Andrea’s father was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer 2 years ago with a prognosis of only 10 weeks.
From then onwards he changed his lifestyle drastically:
- he started a diet of organic food
- he started different natural treatments recommended by different people. You can get a 495 pages long list of different natural cancer treatments here.
But most importantly:
Andrea’s dad refuses to "give up".
Like Jim, father of one of our cancer survivors says:
I don’t know but something seems to be working.
Jim’s son using both chemotherapy and alternative cancer treatments to survive the cancer.
- Jim just updated us his son is still improving, we will feature his update next week 🙂 .
- Next week you will also read about the disgusting differences between e.g. the good Australian health care insurance (Jim has) and the bad US health care insurances 🙁
Both Jim’s son and Andrea’s father are using chemotherapy and alternative cancer treatments to survive the cancer.
Primary and secondary liver cancer
We have to state clearly that Andrea’s father has primary liver cancer that has spread to other parts of his body (please correct me if I am wrong Andrea!).
Most other people contributing on our metastatic liver cancer site have a cancer that has spread to the liver, as was also the case with father’s secondary liver cancer.
Nexavar for treating stage 4 liver cancer
Andrea’s father started chemotherapy using the new cancer treatment drug Nexavar or Sorafenib.
Nexavar got FDA approved in November 2007 for the for the treatment of advanced hepatocelluar carcinoma. In 2005 Nexavar obtained FDA approval as a new medicine for advanced renal-cell carcinoma: which is the most common type of kidney cancer.
The quite sinister chemotherapy side-effect of Nexavar in Andrea’s father was that Nexavar started to destroy the little bit of liver he has left.
Please note that Andrea’s father had problems with balance. Our father started looking for clues why he had a problem with balance, only to find out 1 or 2 years later he had metastatic liver cancer.
One week ago Andrea’s father started chemotherapy with Avastin and Andrea promised to update us about the new chemotherapy drug that will be added this week.
Looking forward for more updates of Andrea about the ongoing cancer treatments of her father.
We wish Andrea, her father and her family:
all the best!
Andrea’s father stage 4 liver cancer story
Andrea left this comment at Avastin cancer drug.
My dad is 66 and has stage iv liver cancer. He was told his prognosis 2 years ago that he had about 10 weeks to live.
He started a diet of organic food, and different natural treatments recommended by different people.
He got better and went to Houston to MD Anderson.
He started Nexavar, and that seem to do the trick for a while, but his liver was very much damage by cirrhosis, although he never drank in his life (my grandmother and great grandmother died of cirrhosis too).
He started having a lot of issues with his ammonium levels and had problems with balance, energy and general brain functions, he was very confused so they gave him lactulose to eliminate the ammonium from his blood.
After a year, Nexavar stop working and the tumor grew.
The double Nexavar’s dose and that didn’t help but actually was destroying the little bit of liver he had left.
Today he started Avastin chemotherapy treatment (once a week) and next week it will be mixed with another treatment…I will post the name tomorrow.
I am afraid for my dad, but today he seem even cheerful and Avastin only gave him a little bit of nausea .
We will see tomorrow….will he loose his hair?
I will try to post as much as I can about his stage 4 liver cancer treatment.
I wish you all the best outcome in this fight.
Hold on and don’t give up! My dad has been alive 2 years because he refuse to listen to “give up”.
