Why did father yesterday talk about secondary liver cancer? Because it is the same as metastatic liver cancer yet easier to remember. To make all clear, we will post more at: Secondary Liver Cancer
Secondary liver cancer prognosis
You always need to ask a doctor who has experience with this disease about his or her idea. Then you go and get a second opinion from another specialist from another hospital "well known" for their expertise in cancers that have spread to the liver.
Ask a complete prognosis
Time (3 months… a year … 2 years … ) is only a little part of the story. What you really need to know is how the (palliative) liver cancer treatment will look like and what effect it will have both on the patient as well as on the caregivers around the patient. Ask what problems the patient be facing, what side-effects will emerge in trying to solve these problems and more importantly: how much healthy manpower do you need and where can you get it?
As in our palliative care experience:
you need all the help you can get in the last phase of a person fading away due to secondary liver cancer.
I’ve been there with my father however he had lung cancer. It’s never hopeless, we get so much out of it, we learn about ourselves.
Good luck!
